Who we are

I created Atlas to solve the problem that gym culture, especially weightlifting, has with image and lack of support. After retiring from professional squash, I started training with a heavier focus on weightlifting, but I missed the camaraderie of a team environment. I knew that there was a supportive community out there, but accessing that support and connecting with others was difficult.

At the same time, I was trying to convince more of my friends and colleagues to go to the gym, but they were put off by the stereotype that you have to look or train a certain way to be welcome.

Atlas was born from that experience. Our principles are that everyone should be welcome in the gym, and that those of us with more experience have an obligation to help beginners start their fitness journey.

We're on a mission to change gym culture for good - come and join us.

Core Values

Inclusivity

Everyone is welcome in the gym. Regardless of where you started, or where you are now, you have a right to be here. Those of us who have been in this space for longer have a responsibility to make it as open and welcoming as possible.

Positivity

Enjoyment makes it sustainable. If you don’t enjoy the gym, you won’t come back. We believe in making the journey more fun by connecting you with others who share your commitment and values.

Integrity

Acting in the best interest of everyone. Taking an active role in countering the spread of misinformation and hateful content, ensuring that people are best equipped to make progress.

Progress

Always striving to be a little bit better than we were yesterday. Change, just like Health and Fitness, doesn’t come overnight. But if we can make just a little bit of progress every day, who knows what we can achieve given time.
